Cuando la casa de mi abuela dejó de ser suya, el álbum de fotografías fue repartido como la única herencia posible. Ahora, mi madre y yo revisamos las pocas imágenes que existen y que, durante años, dieron forma a mi imaginario de familia. Juntas, inventamos un álbum nuevo en el que trazamos las líneas que nos unen a mi abuela, esa mujer que aparece siempre con una expresión dura, de sufrimiento, sin sonreír.

When my grandmother’s house ceased to be hers, the photo album was divided up as the only possible inheritance. Now, my mother and I are reviewing the few images that exist and that, for years, shaped my family imagery. Together, we created a new album in which we traced the lines that connect us to my grandmother, that woman who always appears with a harsh, suffering expression, unsmiling.
